My Adventure

The Plot

A Twenty-year Odyssey in the World of Learning Experience Design

My gig? Crafting learning adventures that really hit home, pushing folks to dive in and figure stuff out. When they roll up their sleeves and practice the exact skills they need, bam! It sparks real behavior change and kicks their performance up a notch.

As an instructional and learning design pro, I’ve clocked time in industries from nutrition to healthcare, from industrial to turf — you name it, I’ve probably trained in it. And, I’m all about making digital learning pack a punch.

Design Process

Mixing up some people science with actionable behaviors, and tossing in a splash of visual art. Click through each tab to dive into the design process, which may shake out a bit differently for each project.

Discovery + Action Mapping

We’ll talk about the key challenges people are experiencing, the behaviors they need to change, and the consequences if they don’t get it right.

We determine a measurable business outcome you want to accomplish. Then map out observable actions your people must perform to meet the outcome. I use these to craft simulations where they make decisions resembling real life.

Storyboard

This plan guides our project development. I’ll walk you through the realistic story narrative the learner will experience along with choices they’ll make to practice these skills in a safe environment.

After you give your approval, I create a visual mockup.

Visual Mock Up

I develop the look and feel of the layout by designing one slide for each type of layout in the eLearning experience. For example: one prompt slide, one question slide, and one character speech slide, and etc.

I’ll follow your company branding standards as we choose colors and other design considerations.  We’ll agree on the visual design layouts before creating a prototype so we can be efficient.

Prototype and Final Product

I design and develop a short interactive version of the project. You’ll give your feedback and approval on the design and development approach. Then the design is ready to be built out in the final product design stage.

The final deliverable is a story-based practice interaction your people will be able to simulate doing the actions we defined earlier.

Go Next level

“I had the pleasure of contracting Cyd for a multitude of customer training projects at The Toro Company. She truly understands audience needs and collaborated with a variety of team-members across platforms as this training content was for our distribution network.

We were pleased with the level of detail for our interactive training, she took us to a whole new level of what we offered in the past. If you trust Cyd with your training and learning development needs, you won’t be disappointed.”
